APC chairman Ezekiel attacked senators and representatives on an oversight mission in Port Harcourt with a bomb in the Rivers.

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress and the former national publicity secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), has claimed that the recent explosion in Port Harcourt, the state capital of Rivers State, was directed towards the Presidential Hotel, which housed the Senate and Representatives Committee on Privatisation at the time.

The purpose of the legislators' visit to the state was oversight. He denounced plans by former council chairs and stranded lawmakers, who are the political followers of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to transform the Rivers political playground into a deplorable massacre and mayhem.

On June 25, 2024, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated close to the Hotel Presidential in the centre of Port Harcourt, the state capital, as part of a demonstration organised by the political allies of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike.

Despite the Commissioner of Police's warnings against participating in the parade because of grave security concerns, they started the demonstration.

The APC leader said in a statement released to the media that the protest was merely a ruse to cause chaos in key areas of the state, such as Hotel Presidential, which was housing members of the Senate Committee on Privatisation who were in the state on an oversight mission. He called the protesters "sore losers." This was done in order to give their pointless request for a state of emergency a national flavour.

Using armed force to force their excessive desire on the state and its citizens against the spirit of the law and in defiance of a reasonable order to "cease and desist" from the Police Force, disgruntled politicians are waging war against the state, according to Eze, who described the crass political escapade of the overzealous political jobbers as contrary to every accepted standard of civilised behaviour and conventional conduct of responsible citizens in a democracy.

The leader of the APC voiced concerns that the incident's investigations might be tainted by excessive meddling because there are strong rumours that the Force Headquarters is being pressured to move the main suspect in the explosion to Abuja, where Nyesom Wike, the main instigator and supporter of the political crisis in the Rivers state, is in charge as territorial minister.

In order to remove the administration of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, who has thus far demonstrated extraordinary competence in managing the affairs of government in the state, Eze urged the Inspector General of Police to withstand any pressure to halt the investigation into the incident and expose the masked man of influence stoking armed conflict in the state.

In a similar vein, the APC chief pleaded with the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to invite the demonstrators, especially their leaders, such as Hon. O.K. Chinda, a member of the House of Representatives, Martin Amaewhule, a former speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, George Ariorlu, a former chairman of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, and others.

According to Eze, the invitation is required to give them a chance to defend their actions, which were taken in flagrant disregard of a strong police warning not to go on their disastrous journey, which ended up becoming a violent scene.
