Edo 2024: We will win thanks to the achievements of our candidates in their constituencies says APC

The performance of the party's governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Senator Dennis Idahosa, in their senatorial district and federal constituency, according to Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Director General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Organization, yesterday, would propel the party to victory in the state's September 21 governorship election.

In an interview with reporters in Benin City, Urhoghide further characterized as disparaging remarks made by the opposition that Okpebholo was incapable and incompetent, adding that his ability to put together capable individuals to lead the party to victory in his senatorial election is indicative of his exceptional administrative ability.

In his own words: "Anyone who suggests that our candidate lacks competence is being quite disparaging. It seems premature, in my opinion, to declare someone incompetent. The ability to arrange eggheads together indicates administrative skill, even in the case of a dunce.

It is fortunate that our candidate ran for office in the Edo Central senatorial district, garnered the support of the electorate, and prevailed. In light of what he has accomplished, I believe it is much simpler for me as a candidate, and it is fortunate that he has expressed interest in running for governor.

"Through Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the APC as a party has been able to acquire the mandate of the people for Edo North. So, the party has appeal for the governorship if you see Edo South as complementing Edo Central and North.

"The current Ovia representative, who is serving a second term in the House of Representatives, is his running companion. The party is more prepared than any other party in the race since our candidates are well-liked in their respective constituencies.

He stated, "It has always been a recurring thing people talk about" in reference to the topic of federal might. What role will "federal might" play in the election? The former president, Muhammadu Buhari, is an APC member. Although I was a PDP member and my state's governor was an APC member, the federal government did not prevent me from attending the Senate.

"I requested a renewal when my term ended in 2019; Adams Oshiomhole was the governor at the time. Samson Osagie, the APC's strong candidate, ran against me; they lost, and I prevailed. Buhari served in the Senate for the eight years I was there. This election will be conducted on the basis of merit, and we intend to ensure that our candidates are elected in accordance with their accomplishments.
